Part I: Flying the F6F
This "Cat from Hell" was designed by Grumman "Ironworks" for one purpose: to blow the Japanese Zero out of the sky and win the battle for strategic air space over the Pacific islands. Warbird pilot and unlimited air racer Steve Hinton checks you out on all of the features of this amazing Navy fighter, inside and out. Then, strap in and go flying in your own home theater, where the roar of Dolby digital surround sound places you right into the pilot's seat!
Part II: The Young Pilots
No assignment made a marine aviator sweat more than being sent to night fighter school. It was top secret, top priority, and top danger for the young pilots who had proven their flying skills and were assigned as night fighters. Marine pilot Bruce Porter accepted this hazardous duty - taking off at night from a carrier or land base - and hunting the enemy down in total darkness. It took steady nerves and just plain guts, since locating your aircraft carrier at night - with no lights on - was often a mix of intuition and fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants luck!
